Welcome to the Deep Sleep

Sunk 3 miles beneath the dead alkaline seabed of an unnamed moon orbiting the gas giant Kephra VII. The alkaline sea completely blocks all psychic transmissions out of the Deep Sleep.

PURPOSE Originally a sleep-research facility studying cryosleep, EchoDyne instead discovered a sleep pod that can awaken latent psychic potential in anyone. Officially, the station was destroyed by an earthquake. In reality it continues its research on the Awakening Pod, and those that survive its rigors.

THE DREAM BELOW Deep in REM’s sub-basements the Dream splashes like the sea against the shore of reality. Walls boil and froth like superheated mercury, screams rend the air, leaving trails of reality-mocking color. Doors become maws, arilocks flood with bog-water, and the memories of the dead walk the halls. 

The initial dreamer, Theta, first victim of the awakening pod is the portal through-which the dream is leaking.

He still sleeps on his bed of wires and needles, an unknowing reagent of a kingdom of alien terrors and forgotten truths.

An officially licensed 3rd party module for the Mothership 1e sci-fi horror game, written as part of the TripTech Game Jam:

This is my first ever game jam submission, I hope you enjoy and can't wait to hear stories and feedback if it ever makes it to a table besides mine!

The mission provides barebones rules for: Psychic powers, an escalation mechanic that gets worse as your crew panics more, 4 new horrors, and 5 new NPCs including 2 powerful psykers. It also describes in brief a submerged sleep-study lab turned psychic-testing-horrorshow, and outlines hooks and an example story structure for using it at your table. 

The module was lightly playtested at patreon.com/milesawaygames by the awesome Anne Richmond, Matt Jackson, Murd3rsauce, Jan Sahlin, and Dyson Dunkl.
